Battle of the Witchitas

This Friday, Septembenike-footballr 30th, the Elgin Owls football team will be playing against their rivals, the Cache Bulldogs. It will take place at the Elgin High School football field at 7:00. Several Alumni have challenged Elgin High School students to a noise contest at Friday’s game! We encourage the Elgin community to bring noisemakers and as many friends and family as possible to boost school spirit during the game. All students are invited to sit in the student section which will be located at the set of bleachers furthest away from the concession stands. The theme for the student section will be WHITE OUT so wear white, paint your faces, and bring baby powder to show your school spirit! Make as much noise as possible to cheer on our Elgin Owls and win the noise contest! Good luck to all the players Friday…Go Owls!

Sales Tax for Education

SQ 779 is a constitutional amendment that would raise the state sales and use tax by 1%. 60% of the total revenue would go to increasing the salary of every public school teacher by at least $5,000. The remaining funds would divide between public schools (9.5%), higher education (19.25%), career and technology education (3.25%), and early childhood education (8%). Voting for or against this state sales tax increase will take place in November. Vote and make your decision heard!
