On January 21st, 2017, the day after Donald J. Trump was sworn into office as the 45th President, protesters (mostly women) took to the streets to protest his candidacy. There were more people at the march than were at Trump’s inauguration. More than 5 million people across the globe participated in this event. They had a March in Washington, D.C, Oklahoma City, Denver, Chicago, Portland, Los Angeles, Bismarck, San Francisco and Seattle, but that’s just a few to name. There was a match on each of the seven continents(EVEN ANTARCTICA). I had the privilege to attend the march that took place in Oklahoma city and it was such an amazing experience. There were over 14,000 people in attendance!! While we marched we chanted things such as “Love Trumps Hate”, “Hear Us Roar” and “Social Workers Unite”.
Also the best part of this whole march probably had to be all the signs that people held. My favorite sign had to be a sign with an image of Princess Leia from Star Wars that said “Women Belong in the Resistance”.
