Owls snatched the lead late in the game in a 7-3 victory over Weatherford on Friday. Owlstrailed 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning when Kendrick Black homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Weatherford scored three runs in the first inning, but Owls still managed to pull out the victory. Weatherford batters contributing to the big inning included Austin Roseberry and Ard, who all drove in runs. Weatherford opened up scoring in the first inning when Ard grounded out, scoring two runs. Jaken Snider led things off on the rubber for Owls. He went seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out nine. Nurnberg got the start for Weatherford. He allowed nine hits and six runs over five innings, striking out two. Gaunt threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Owls racked up nine hits in the game. Lance Bianchini, Holden Bartosovsky, and Snider each had multiple hits for Owls. Snider, Bartosovsky, and Bianchini each managed two hits to lead Owls. Owls didn’t commit a single error in the field. Trevor Bianchini had the most chances in the field with 11. Mccaw went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Weatherford in hits. Weatherford was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Mccaw made the most plays with five.
